Award-Winning Pistolsmith uses Tormach PCNC 1100 for Custom Gunsmithing

Custom Pistolsmith Scott Mulkerin from SDM Fabricating was kind enough to spend a few minutes speaking about craftsmanship and "making things" with us in Episode 4 of our Tormach Owners Story video series.

Scott Mulkerin manufactures a line of competition accessories for Smith & Wesson revolvers and 1911 semi-automatic pistols through his company SDM Fabricating  in Medina, OH.  Mulkerin is a Benefactor Member of the National Rifle Association. In 2011, he was awarded the honor “Pistolsmith of the Year” by the American Pistolsmiths’ Guild. He is currently the Treasurer of the American Pistolsmiths’ Guild. Purchasing a PCNC 1100 in 2007, Mulkerin uses his mill to automate labor intensive and repetitive machining operations. In recent years, he has expanded his business focus to include CNC prototype and design work and one-off designs.

“What I do is fun and I enjoy it. I get up and I make stuff. I’m creative and it’s a good outlet for me. I do that for twelve, thirteen, fourteen hours a day, then I watch TV for an hour and go to bed and I get up and do it all over again. I’m self employed—I only have to work half days, twelve hours.”
