More than Machining, We're Makers

For obvious reasons, we're pretty well-versed when it comes to machining here at Tormach. But throughout our company - in several different departments - we also have an array of makers. We've seen Tormach employees create everything from horseshoe lamps to remaking wedding rings to DIY 3D printers.

Last week, the Whitehouse celebrated their initiative to spur STEM throughout the U.S. with the National Week of Making. Machining can be a huge part of making, but more often than not, it's not the only part of getting a project finished.

To celebrate the week of making, Tormach controls engineer, Daniel Rogge, shared a recent project that had a lot of making, as well as a little machining.

With some serious ambition and a passion for boating, Rogge created a watercraft that he can store in his garage and get to the water with his bike.

Though most of his project was focused on building with wood, Rogge still managed to use his PCNC 1100 to create a few components in the design.

The boat can seat Rogge and his two kids with ease.
